Film and Theatre Method Acting - one-on-one
Method Acting - Beginner
Are you bored and frustrated sitting in an acting class of 15 people and learning nothing because you have to deal with somebody else's acting problems; angry because there is no time to receive enough feedback from the teacher on your own acting technique? How about FOUR three-hour sessions one-on-one with a teacher for 250, a month?
First Month - Method Technique - First Principles
This class is open to both beginning and experienced actors. The actor develops his/her skills through a series of exercises that are based on the principles of Method Acting. Actors acquire a technique that allows them to access their emotional life and to express emotions through natural and truthful behavior. The class covers the Method Acting basics exercises from relaxation through sense memory. Upon successful completion of this course, the actor is welcome to apply for further training in the core Acting Program.
Method acting classes start at the beginning of each month. - 250, a month
Second Month - Acting with the Method - Technique and Inspiration
Acting training in this class follows the work undertaken in the introductory “First Principles” class. The actor is invited to enter deeply into the Method Acting Technique. The class opens with work on emotional research and continues with a series of exercises and improvisations over the twelve-week period. The work enables the actor to explore relationships, scene work, justification of actions, physical and vocal obstacles, text analysis and character interpretation. The actor establishes a solid grounding, acquiring an effective and practical approach to his/her craft. The skills acquired in this work will enable the student to integrate artistic instinct, imagination, and intellect.

Third Month - Filming and Analysis - Encountering the Dramatic Form
This class concentrates on filming the dramatic text. A series of films scripts of varying styles is discussed and analyzed. The actor is encouraged to see each script as a sequence of events that is dynamic and in-motion. As the actor comes to understand the significance of the events which comprise a screenplay, he/she arrives at a conceptual understanding of the script that is rooted in the film's dramatic structure. The actor will start rehearsal work on a one-act screen play or monologue, which will be video-filmed during the third and fourth month of training.
