General Requirements
Applicants to Methodica Acting Studio must be 19 years of age or older or hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Applicants should have a sound financial plan for the time they will be studying at Methodica.
Admission
Admission to Monthly Progressive full-time Method acting courses for beginners offered by Methodica Acting Studio is by application and requires an interview only.
Admission to the programs offered by Methodica Acting Studio is by application and require an interview. The Faculty of Methodica Acting Studio carefully evaluates all applications; selected applicants are contacted by the registrar to arrange an interview with a faculty member in person or over the phone (for out-of-town applicants); student admission is at the discretion of the Faculty. Applicants are measured by their character, by their ability to demonstrate their commitment and articulate their goals.

Admission to Monthly Progressive full-time Method acting courses for advanced actors offered by Methodica Acting Studio is by application.
Foreign/International Students. International students have attended our program in the past. However, as we are a Canadian institution, training actors for the American theatre, all applicants need to speak fluent English.
Prepare and bring the following items:
A full-face photograph (headshot).
A detailed résumé listing your prior acting experience (attached to the back of your photograph or on a separate sheet).
A personal statement in essay form (500 words or two typed, double-spaced pages). Write freely and personally about yourself and your acting. It will not be seen as a sample of your literacy, or as a test of your character. Tell us why you are applying here, what you expect the experience to be like, and what you would like to accomplish. Write about your life, past and present; how you get along with people, the world; likes, dislikes (in theatre, literature, golf, anything). The personal statement will be instrumental in helping the auditors make a final decision about your professional abilities. It will be read only by the chair and designated faculty in strict confidence.
Do send your headshot/résumé or personal statement to the Office of Graduate Admissions or attach them to your online application.
Registration, Tuition & Fees
Applicants who have been admitted should be aware that there is a limit to the number of students permitted to enroll in each class. Class space is assigned and guaranteed to applicants in the order in which the Studio administrator receives the properly completed registration form and payment. In order to properly secure space in a class all applicants are encouraged to carefully follow and comply with all registration instructions given when notified of their acceptance.Tuition fees are used for securing a space in the class and are not prorated or adjusted for classes missed except in special cases. Payments may be made by personal check, money order or cash. Checks and money orders should be made payable to: Methodica Acting Studio. All cash payments must be made in person at the Studio administrative office. All late payments are subject to a late fee. Returned checks and resulting bank charges must be repaid in cash and may result in a cancellation of the privilege to pay by personal check.
Three-year Full-time Method Acting Training Progresive:
Two academic years; 9-10 hr/week; 4 days/week
Tuition: CAD $990.00 per month plus HST
International students
English Language Requirements
If your primary language is not English, please provide along with your application proof of successful completion or test scores from either of the following:
Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) Computer Based Test (CBT) with a minimum score of 190 (or equivalent for the written test); or
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with a minimum score of Band 5.5; or
Cambridge Advanced English;
or Successful completion of LPI Level 4.
Medical Insurance
International students in Canada must have a comprehensive health and accident insurance during their stay in the country, proof of which they must present to Methodica Acting Studio prior to start of the study program.
International students
Visa RequirementsIn order to study in Canada all international students must obtain a student visa prior to entering the country. The obtaining of a student visa usually takes about four to six weeks. Please also consult the official government Internet site Citizenship and Immigration Canada or call a Canadian consulate or Revenue Canada and Customs in Vancouver at 604-666-2171 or 204-983-3500 or toll-free for Canada 1-800-461-9999.
The student visa does not permit students to work in Canada, a separate working visa is required, please consult the above listed agencies for further information. Visa application check-list:
- valid passport and/or Birth Certificate;
- original acceptance letter from Methodica Acting Studio accompanied by the full-time program brochure and receipt of tuition fee payment;
- proof that you have enough funds in the bank to support yourself and pay all tuition and living fees during your study period in Canada (a letter from your bank or copy of your latest account information).
The Canadian embassy in your country may require also a medical or police record.
Visa Extension:
You have to contact Canadian Immigration at least two months before your previous student visa expires (Vancouver at 604-666-2171or 204-983-3500 or toll-free for Canada 1-800-461-9999) in order to receive an application in the mail.
